  6. Witness appeal after suspected kidnap

    Police are investigating an assault and kidnap of a man in Long Eaton. 

    Officers say the male was approached by a group of people in a small silver Mazda on Rowsley Avenue and it's thought he was bundled into the boot of a vehicle and driven off following an altercation.

    A bus stopped nearby on Beresford Avenue around the time of the incident at 20:40 yesterday and police are appealing to the passengers to contact them if they saw what happened.

    It's that time of year ... oh, yes it is! The panto season is well under way and one of the guests on BBC Radio Derby's Sally Pepper Show today was the head of wardrobe at Derby Theatre Tim Heywood, who's currently working on Cinderella.

    A present drive was organised after Derby Hospitals Trust said that some of its elderly patients sometimes miss out on festive gifts, especially if they don’t have family or friends nearby.

  9. Man in Santa outfit robs fast food venue

    We've been telling you about a robber dressed as Santa, who stole cash from the KFC restaurant, in Hockley Way, Alfreton.

    Police say the offender was about 5ft 10in tall and stocky.

    Despite earlier speculation on social media, police say they're unable to identify his ethnicity.

  11. Sex attack on woman in Spondon

    Police are investigating a sexual assault in Spondon after a 28-year-old woman was attacked while walking along a footpath between West Drive and Acorn Way.

    The victim was left badly shaken by the incident, which happened at 18;30 yesterday, but didn't need hospital treatment.

    Police say the offender was white, in his early to mid-20s, of medium build, and with short black hair. He was wearing a black, zip up hooded top.

  12. Gold award for marina's conservation work

    South Derbyshire's Mercia Marina has earned a fifth gold conservation award in five years from the British Holiday and Home Parks Association.

    The 74-acre marina, near Willington, is the largest inland marina in Europe, and was recognised for its work to protect and improve the natural environment or local wildlife.  

  13. Village homes to get £10m makeover

    A £10m revamp of New Bolsover Model Village is set to go ahead after the Heritage Lottery Fund agreed to contribute £1.9m towards the project.

    The scheme will carry out essential repairs and restore original architectural features on the 194 properties which make up the village, while the 138 council-owned premises will be insulated inside.

    The three-year project is due to start in June 2016.

  14. Soap star to help open new leisure centre

    The new Queen's Park Sports Centre in Chesterfield will be officially opened on Thursday 7 January, two days before a community open day for residents.

  15. Where should new houses go in South Derbyshire?

    A public consultation's been launched by South Derbyshire District Council over which green spaces should be protected from housing developments.

    Part two of the authority's local plan will be discussed at public meetings during the next few months.

    The plan deals with proposals for about 600 homes in smaller developments before 2028.

  16. Knife-wielding Santa robs restaurant

    Police have released CCTV footage of a robbery in which a man dressed as Father Christmas stole cash from a fast food restaurant in Alfreton.

    The offender climbed in through the drive-thru window at the KFC takeaway, in Hockley Way, before producing a knife, threatening staff and demanding money.
