  2. Weather: Rain to return overnight

    The winds will pick up again overnight and there will be a band of rain pushing in through the early hours of the morning, with lows of 8C (46F).

    It's a mix of sunshine and showers tomorrow, although any rain will be fairly isolated but quite heavy and bluster where it does fall, with highs of 12C (54F).

    Derby County are number 15 in the FA Cup third round draw.

    Chesterfield are number 60 but need to win their replay against Walsall to take their place in round three.

  4. Illegal rat run leads to police prosecution promise

    Police are warning motorists not to take an illegal short cut to avoid the roadworks on Swarkestone Road.

    There are temporary traffic lights at the roadworks on the A5132, close to the garden centre in the village.

    Some drivers are avoiding the roadworks by taking a short cut through Woodshop Lane to and from the A514, which has restricted access for local residents only as it's a narrow lane.

    Police have already stopped 19 motorists and say prosecutions will be considered if people continue to breach the regulations.

  5. Clough faces different pressure at high-flying Brewers

    New Burton Albion manager Nigel Clough believes there is added pressure when a new manager comes into a club which doesn't need major surgery.

    Clough took his first training session as Brewers boss this morning and his first game in charge is at Gillingham on Saturday.

    Clough said changes need to be made at both Derby County and Sheffield United when he took charge but with the Brewers two points clear at the top of League One he says his priority will be keeping the momentum going.

  6. Arsonist on the run from HMP Sudbury

    A 45-year-old man has failed to return to HMP Sudbury following his release on temporary leave on Saturday.

    Darren Lee Bittles was sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court to serve three years and eight months for arson with intent to endanger life.

    Derbyshire Police say he's white, 5ft 6in tall, of slim build with hazel eyes, and has connections with the Kings Heath and Druids Heath areas of Birmingham.

  8. Rams to learn FA Cup opponents

    Yesterday's goalless draw at Hillsborough might not have set the pulses racing, but at least Derby County supporters can look forward to this evening when the Rams find out who they'll play in the FA Cup third round.

    All the Premier League and Championship teams join the competition at this stage.

  9. Teenagers deny baby kidnap charges

    Two teenagers have pleaded not guilty of conspiracy to kidnap two babies, at a hearing in Derby Youth Court, today.

    One of the 17 year olds had previously admitted a charge of attempting to kidnap an infant from a house in Normanton. The other youth denies all three charges.

    The teenagers, one from Evesham and the other from Wolverhampton, are due to appear before the court again on 21 December.

  11. Storm Desmond: Staffordshire firefighters help with rescue

    Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service says 13 of its firefighters have been helping with the operation to rescue flood victims in Cumbria.

    It says one of its High Volume Pumps is being used to move large amounts of water from the worst hit areas.

    The prime minister delivered a speech at a school in Burton earlier.

    Speaking at the de Ferrers Academy, David Cameron set out how the government intends to make good on the promises it made at the general election.

    He says grants are being made available so that new housing is built on brownfield sites.

    Clough has been speaking to the media at the Pirelli Stadium and said he will bring former assistant Andy Garner (pictured), with Gary Crosby also on the coaching staff.

  14. Second anniversary of Rams stadium name change

    It's two years since the name of Derby County's ground was switched from Pride Park Stadium to the iPro Stadium.

    The Rams agreed to sell the naming rights in exchange for £7m over the next decade from the sports drink company.

  15. Derbyshire rescue workers faced 'awful' conditions

    More on the rescue operation in Cumbria, and the role of mountain rescue team staff from Derbyshire.

    David O'Sullivan is from Derby Mountain Rescue Team and says conditions were awful.

    He said: "It was very dark and wet, and we were wading when we went out in certain areas - it was waist deep. 

    "But the water was moving so fast that when we came back around 45 minutes, an hour later, it was up to our shoulders, so in terms of the devastation for the people out there it was pretty significant."
