    Former Derby County inside forward Jimmy Dunn has died at the age of 91.

    The Edinburgh-born player was signed by the Rams for £15,000 in 1953 - four years after helping Wolves win the FA Cup.

    Derby City Council leader Ranjit Banwait has paid tribute to local basketball star and teacher Clarence Wiggins, who died earlier this week.

    Derbyshire actor John Hurt has been rewarded for six decades in acting with a knighthood.

    He said: "I thought I'd treat it in a circumspect sort of a way but I find myself inordinately proud."

  10. Normanton disturbance: Four arrests

    Police say four people have been arrested after a 20-year-old man was assaulted in Normanton.

    Three 17-year-olds and a 14-year-old are being questioned about the attack, which happened on Normanton Road at about 18:50 on Monday.

    Thieves have stolen several pallets of Coca Cola from a lorry parked in a layby on the A50 near Uttoxeter.

    It happened between 21:00 on Monday and 05:45 yesterday.

    A man is in a critical condition after being stabbed in the chest in Derby.

    Police said the 23-year-old, from Burton, was found injured on Lower Dale Road in the early hours of this morning.

    Derbyshire artist Paul Cummins, who created the WW1 ceramic poppy installation at the Tower of London, said he was "taken aback" to be appointed MBE.
