  10. 'Why the long face? I'm stuck in the river' - neigh-sayer

    A horse called Neil has been rescued by firefighters after becoming stuck in a river in Brandon.

    They say the large animal rescue unit worked with a local vet and managed to free the animal from the river at Rugby Road yesterday.

  12. 'Live put at risk' after fire brigade banned from using bridge

    People in Warwickshire say lives are being put at risk after fire engines were banned from using a bridge into their village.

    Farmers in Marston Jabbett, near Bedworth, are also angry as the ban on heavy vehicles - amid safety fears - makes it harder for them to transport livestock and produce.

  13. Signs added to Coventry junction after safety review

    New speed warning signs and road markings are to be installed at the A45 Broad Lane junction after a review into a series of crashes and complaints about the spot.

    The layout was overhauled last year but a review was launched when road users and residents expressed fears of safety risks.

    The councillor in charge, Jayne Innes, says the number of accidents at the junction since its upgrade is "similar" to that of the old layout - and in line with junctions elsewhere - but the council wants to make sure "drivers are using the junction properly".

  14. Police reassure public that parade will go ahead

    Police in Warwickshire insist there will be sufficient support available to allow Bedworth's Armistice Day parade to go ahead next month.

    Police say they've been involved in the planning of the event and will put proportionate support in place as they do every year. 

    Organisers launched an appeal earlier this week for volunteers.

  15. Student caught dealing class A drugs in Leamington is jailed for three years

      A student decided to take the financial burden off his parents and to pay his own way through university – by dealing drugs on the streets of Leamington.

  16. Work on student accommodation blocks under way

    Work has started on the student accommodation scheme being developed on the site of the old Royal Mail sorting office in Coventry.

    The Bishop Gate site is being transformed into three accommodation blocks for more than 700 students as part of a £60m project.

    A second phase of two further blocks is being reviewed and Coventry University says work should be completed by August 2018.
