  2. Rugby man arrested on suspicion of drugs offence

    Drugs and £7,000 in cash have been seized from the home of a man whose car was found to contain suspected cannabis and amphetamines, police say.

    Officers estimate the drugs - recovered in Rugby - to have a street value of around £8,000.

    A 47 year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs.  

    He's been bailed until the end of May.

  3. Pupils continue fight against West Coventry Academy

    A former pupil of Tile Hill Wood school says she'll keep fighting against plans to turn the girls' school into a co-educational academy in a merger with nearby Woodlands Academy.

    Georgina Toon, along with other pupils, collected nearly 14,000 signatures on a petition to keep the schools separate.

    Governors at the school today backed plans for a single West Coventry Academy on the site of Tile Hill Wood.

  5. Temporary surgery to open in Brownsover

    The NHS is planning to open a temporary GP surgery in Brownsover in Rugby after admitting it could be 2018 before a new one opens.

    The original practice closed because of a dispute between the NHS and the doctors running it.

    Members of the Brownsover Patient Action Group have taken responsibility for carrying out basic maintenance on the old surgery.

  11. Watch: Parents urge MPs to 'get behind' brain tumour debate

    A couple from Warwickshire whose son died from a brain tumour has secured a House of Commons debate on Monday over spending on scientific research.

    Stephen Realf, a trainee RAF pilot from Rugby, died in 2014 when he was 26.

    Around 16,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with brain tumours each year.

    West Midlands police officers have been using an unmarked lorry to carry out an undercover operation to crack down on drivers texting at the wheel.

    PC Tony McKenzie says the consequences of drivers' actions could be "devastating".

  14. Governors agree creation of new Coventry academy

    School governors at Tile Hill Wood school in Coventry have resolved to back plans for a single co-educational academy to open in September next year.

    The proposal, to be considered by the Department for Education, brings closer the plan to merge the boys from nearby Woodlands Academy with the girls at Tile Hill Wood at the new West Coventry Academy.

    Parents at Woodlands aren't happy and want more to be done to save it from closure.
