  2. Wasps' Smith to face disciplinary panel

    Wasps flanker George Smith will appear before an RFU Disciplinary panel tomorrow, charged with striking an opponent.

    Smith was cited following last weekend's Premiership match between Wasps and Gloucester for allegedly striking James Hook on the side of the head with his knee. 

    The forward has also been named Premiership Player of the Month for February.

  3. Warwick scientists identify cause of multiple miscarriage

    Samples donated by 183 patients at the Implantation Resarch Clinic in Coventry helped the University of Warwick's "major breakthrough" on miscarriages.

    The team found a shortfall of stem cells was the likely cause of accelerated ageing of the womb lining which in turn resulted in the failure of some pregnancies.    

    Scientists say one in 100 women trying to conceive suffer recurrent miscarriages, defined as the loss of three or more consecutive pregnancies.

    After a cloudy start to the evening, a band of heavy rain will spread eastwards over Coventry and Warwickshire, possibly causing some disruption and localised flooding.

  6. Woman hit by police car in 'critical' condition

    The IPCC says a woman hit by a police car in Rugby yesterday remains in a critical condition in hospital.

    It's calling for any witnesses to the crash, close to the junction of Dunchurch Road and Overslade Lane, to come forward.

    Investigators have been conducting house-to-house inquiries in the area and collecting CCTV footage.

    Specialist experts from West Midlands Police have also been called in to conduct a parallel investigation into the crash.

  8. Space to support The Boomtown Rats at Friday's Godiva

    Liverpool band Space will support The Boomtown Rats as Friday night headliners at July's Godiva Festival. 

    They became known in the mid-1990s with singles such as "Female of the Species" and "The Ballad of Tom Jones".

    The 18th Godiva Festival will take place at Coventry's War Memorial Park between 1 and 3 July.

    The Sky Blues make the trip to Shrewsbury Town tonight, aiming for their first away win since 2 January.

  10. Family's campaign secures brain tumour debate

    A Rugby couple, whose son died from a brain tumour, has secured a House of Commons debate which could see millions of pounds invested into scientific research.

    Stephen Realf, a trainee RAF pilot from Rugby, died in 2014. 

    More than 120,000 people have signed a petition, launched by Liz and Peter Realf, calling on the Government to invest at least £30m into fighting the disease.

    The announcement follows the confirmation that The Charlatans and Mystery Jets will appear on Saturday night’s main stage.

  13. Watch: M6 clean-up delayed after fatal crash

    The M6 was closed for nearly 24 hours in February after an accident.

    A leaked report says there is no record of nearby Birmingham and Solihull councils being informed of the seriousness of the problems.

  15. Weather warning for rain issued

    yellow warning of rain has been issued for Coventry and Warwickshire.

    The Met Office says persistent rain is expected in the area from the early hours of Wednesday, and could cause some localised flooding and disruption to transport.
