    The council’s ethics committee is set to reconvene and decide on whether council leaders broke its code of conduct in a "media war" at taxpayers’ expense against Sky Blues’ owners Sisu amid the Ricoh Arena dispute.  

  5. Cocaine worth £120,000 found in car

    Two men found with cocaine worth £120,000 in a car have been jailed.

    Shkelqim Dardha and Bekim Domi, both Albanian nationals, were stopped at Corley services on the M6 in Warwickshire by the Central Motorway Policing Group patrol.

    Officers found a block of cocaine weighing almost 1kg (2.20lb), as well as two bricks of cannabis resin.

    Two men are jailed after £120,000 worth of cocaine was found in a car stopped at a motorway service station by police.

  7. Eric Morecombe's sports car up for sale

    A car belonging to the late comedian Eric Morecambe is set to be sold for about £150,000 after being restored by a Warwickshire auction house.

    Morecambe bought the Jensen Interceptor in 1968 and kept it in a garage at his home. It was eventually sold to the auction house in 2014.

    Buyer Silverstone Auctions contracted Jensen specialists Cropredy Bridge to restore the car's engine, brakes and bodywork.

  8. 'I will not share a platform with Galloway or Farage', says Nadhim Zahawi

    Nadhim Zahawi, Conservative MP for Stratford-on-Avon, appearing on The Daily Politics ruled out sharing a platform with George Galloway or Nigel Farage in their shared campaign to leave the EU.

    Hilary Benn, Labour's shadow foreign secretary, has said he will not share a stage with David Cameron in making the case for continued EU membership.

    MP Chuka Umunna, campaigning to stay in the EU, says "it's for each and every single Labour politician to make a decision" on who they share a stage with, but jokes he is unlikely to be invited to join the PM.    

  9. Breast surgeon wounding trial could move out of region

    A breast surgeon charged with 21 counts of unlawfully and maliciously wounding 11 patients in the West Midlands could see his trial moved to another part of the country.

    Ian Paterson worked at hospitals run by the Heart of England NHS Trust and Spire Healthcare between 1997 and 2011.

    The 58-year-old was due to to appear at Birmingham Crown Court this morning but was excused due to his "mental health".

    Concerns had been raised about Mr Paterson's profile in the Midlands.

    Judge Melbourne Inman QC said a final decision was pending, with the possibility of the trial moving to the South East.

  12. Public meeting to be held about M6 crash

    A public hearing is to take place to examine what has been described as "unacceptable motorway delays" following a fatal crash on the M6 in Birmingham

    It happened near Castle Bromwich earlier this month, and took nearly 24 hours for the motorway to be fully re-opened.

    The hearing has been organised by the West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner, David Jamieson, who says the delays will have cost the region millions of pounds.

  13. One airlifted to hospital after Tredington crash

    The driver of a small van was airlifted to hospital with potentially serious injuries after a crash in Shipston-on-Stour this morning.

    The ambulance service say the driver of the other car suffered only minor injuries after the crash on the A429 in Tredington at about 08:50.

  14. Coventry paperboy helps save woman in burning home

    A Coventry paperboy insisted he was "no hero" for saving a woman trapped in her burning home, as he received an award from the Chief Constable.

    Harry Packer raised the alarm after finding an elderly woman trapped in her house, after she'd tried to boil an electric kettle on a gas hob, causing smoke to billow through her home.

    The Finham Park sixth-former reassured the woman and ran to her neighbour’s house and got him to call the fire brigade during the incident last year. 

    Quote Message: "I’m not a hero, not by a long shot. I’ve helped somebody help someone. Having said that, I am incredibly thankful I was there."
  15. Two MPs in favour of staying in European Union

    Local Conservative MPs Marcus Jones and Chris White have both said they're in favour of remaining part of the European Union.

    Chris White, MP for Warwick and Leamington said it would be "irresponsible" to jeopardize  jobs created in the area recently.

  16. Woman cut from car after Stoneleigh collision

    An 89-year-old woman had to be cut free following a crash between a car and a lorry on the A46 at Stoneleigh last night.

    The woman was taken to hospital after the collision which happened at about 19:45, along with a man who was driving the car.
