  3. Man murdered in 'row over money'

    Police said they believed Edwin Pyott murdered his friend in a row over money.

    The 43-year-old from Langlodge Road admitted stabbing Danny McDermott to death at his flat in the Holbrooks area of Coventry and has been jailed for at least 20 years.

    Det Insp Jim Munro said he was pleased the guilty plea saved Danny's family from the trauma of a lengthy trial.

  4. Rugby publishes preferred sites for more than 5,000 homes

    Rugby Borough Council has set out its preferred options for where more than 5,000 new homes could be built in the next six years.

    Its draft local plan says over half of them could be located on a series of sites to the south west of the town around Cawston Dunchurch and Bilton.

    The council says that once the plan is agreed, decsions can then be made about what roads and extra infrastructure are required.

  5. Wasps name team to play Bath

    Wasps are boosted by the returns of England internationals James Haskell and Joe Launchbury for Sunday's European Champions Cup match against Bath at the Ricoh Arena. 

    There are also three personnel changes in the backline, with Joe Simpson, Ruaridh Jackson and Rob Miller all handed starts.

  6. Healey archive appeal given global exposure

    An appeal to keep the archives of the Warwick Healey Motor Company available to the public has been bolstered by the support the the Austin Healey Club in America (AHCUC).

    Warwickshire County Council has been offered the chance to buy Donald Healey's company archives for permanent preservation.

    They've so far raised around £90,000 in donations and pledges but need a further £30,000 to secure the collection.

    Their bid is to be highlighted in a forthcoming AHCUC magazine, promoting the cause across the United States and globally.

  8. Low labour costs tempted JLR to Slovakia

    Jaguar Land Rover's owners, Tata Motors, said construction on the new factory in Slovakia will begin next spring.

    Automotive industry expert, Professor David Bailey, said he thinks Slovakia's low labour costs are a big factor in JLR deciding to set up there.

    "They've already got a premium sector there and and suppliers and a skilled workforce and low labour costs, so you can see why Jaguar Land Rover are doing it" he said.

  9. Stratford has most expensive street in the West Midlands

    The most expensive street in the West Midlands is Tiddington Road, Stratford-upon-Avon.

    According to research by Lloyds Bank, a house on this road would set you back an average of £1,349,000 making it the most expensive in the region.

    Victoria Road in Kensington, west London, has again been named as the most expensive street in the UK, with the average property costing just over £8m.

  10. BreakingMan jailed for life after murdering friend in flat stabbing

    A man's been jailed for life for stabbing his friend and neighbour to death. 

    Edwin Pyott, 43, from Langlodge Road admitted killing Danny McDermott at his flat in the Holbrooks area of Coventry. 

    He's been told he will serve a minimum of 20 years behind bars.

  12. Two men fined more than £700 after failing to clean up after dogs

    Two Coventry dog owners have been left with bills of more than £700 each after failing to clean up after their animals.

    Darren Dunn, 30, and 28-year-old Jonathan Guild both failed to clear their dog's mess at two sites in Coventry. 

    They were found guilty at Nuneaton Magistrates and fined more than £700 after failing to pay the £75 fixed penalty issued by the city council.
