  2. Wet wipes to get 'fine to flush' symbol via Swindon company

    Wet Wipes

A"fine to flush" symbol is being introduced for wet wipes that have passed strict tests to ensure they will not contribute to sewer "fatbergs", the water industry has said.

Manufacturers of wipes will be able to feature the official water industry logo on their packaging if their products pass the independent tests to prove they can be safely flushed down the toilet.

Manufacturers will be able to have their wipes tested by WRc, Swindon-based independent technical experts who have developed the standards with Water UK, and will awarded the mark if the product passes.

  3. Last day to register for Stonehenge tunnel consultation

    Stonehenge

Today is the deadline for people to register to take part in the consultation over plans to change the A303 around Stonehenge.

The proposals for a new expressway, would see parts of the A303 converted to a dual carriageway.

A 1.8 mile long, four lane tunnel would take traffic out of sight as it passes the World Heritage Site.

Today is the last chance for people to register as an "interested party" on the National Infrastructure Planning website.

  4. Council refuses to pay back M32 fines

    M32

Bristol City Council has said it will not automatically pay back the fines of people who mistakenly used the Metrobus lanes on the M32.

It comes after Tony Havens - who mistakenly drove up the M32 slip-road that's meant for the bus last September - had his fine quashed at appeal.

The council is instead inviting appeals from anyone unhappy with their fine, but drivers cannot appeal retrospectively if they have already paid. Bristol will now issue discretional warnings for first time errors.

The authority has charged more than £500,000 in fines, to around 9000 drivers, since the bus lanes came into existence.
