Work to upgrade gas pipes in Swindon to last six weeks

Some 500m of gas pipes in the Rodbourne Road area of Swindon are being replaced next month.
Old metal pipes will be taken out and new plastic pipes installed in the scheme that is expected to last six weeks.
Wales & West Utilities said traffic lights will be used to manage traffic on the junction of Rodbourne Road,
Park Lane, Dean Street and Church Place.

New Brunel exhibition preparing to open in Bristol

Personal items, never seen before by the public, have been bought by the ss Great Britain for a new museum in Bristol telling the story of Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
They'll form part of 'Being Brunel' which is due to open next to the ship at the end of March.
It'll celebrate his life and his engineering achievements.
The Trust behind the project says the exhibits it has recently bought at auction explain the influence Brunels' father had on his life and work.

Refuse collectors in Gloucestershire say they are going to try their hardest to remove waste and recycling from across the county after problems caused by the recent cold weather.
Icy conditions in Cheltenham meant collections were suspended on Thursday when one of the crews slipped and hit his head.
A Bristol woman faced a miserable Christmas Day after burglars stole her turkey, presents and TV - on Christmas Eve.
But the police officers called to her home in Henleaze to investigate were so moved by her plight they decided to help out.
One of the officers from Avon and Somerset Police loaned her a TV from their own home, while another contacted a local supermarket who donated a turkey.
Her car was also stolen, and has since been found abandoned in Shirehampton.
More blood donations needed in Gloucestershire

There's an appeal for more people in Gloucestershire to make giving blood one of their New Year's resolutions.
NHS Blood and Transplant says it wants to see more donors registering in 2018.
Last year 2,500 people signed up but the organisation says it particularly wants to hear from people from black and Asian communities.

Football: Forest Green Rovers loans end
Meanwhile Forest Green will complete the signing of defender Alex Whittle from National League North side York City next week.
The 24-year-old joins Rovers on a free transfer when the window opens on Tuesday.

Smart motorways operate variable speed limits and can open the hard shoulder to traffic to reduce congestion.

Road-side cameras to detect lane violations are now being tested.
Smart motorways are a feature of congested sections of motorway around the country - including Avon and Somerset.
About 80,000 warning letters have been issued to drivers who have broken smart motorway rules since December 2016.
