  1. 'Silver lining' to arson at wildlife sanctuary

The manager of a wildlife sanctuary that was targeted in a suspected arson attack says he's amazed by the "massive response" from the local community.

    Brockswood Animal Sanctuary

No animals were hurt in the fire at Brockswood Animal Sanctuary in Dudley, but pictures show the damage with which staff were faced on Monday morning.

    Brockswood Animal Sanctuary

The sanctuary in Cotwell End is home to rescued pigs, sheep, ponies and other wildlife.

The fire destroyed an area it was developing into a "quiet corner" for visitors, including those on the autism spectrum, said manager Neil Swann.

A crowdfunding page has so far raised more than £1,200 to help, with local businesses and tradespeople also offering their services.

"A brewery has been in touch offering to brew a Brockswood pale ale, and we've had offers of CCTV," Mr Swann said.

"The help we've been offered is like a silver lining after the horrific attack."
