  6. Man in handcuffs hunted after assaulting police officer

    A man suspected of motoring and drugs offences assaulted a police officer during an attempted arrest and fled from the scene still in handcuffs, police said.

    The officer suffered injuries to his hand and face and was taken to hospital after the incident at about 17:40 in Sedgley on Tuesday night.

    The offender - who was seen by officers driving a Merecdes erratically - is described as a white male, 25-30 years old, with short black hair and an Eastern European accent.

    He was wearing a blue Adidas top an to light khaki jeans.

  7. River polluted with oil

    Environment Agency staff are attempting to trace the source of oil pollution on the River Arrow in Redditch.

    Dave Throup, from the Environment Agency, said staff were working with Severn Trent Water and were analysing the outflow from an industrial site.

    He said rain expected overnight might flush more oil into the river.

  8. Four guilty of plastering racist stickers at university

    Four men have been found guilty of plastering Aston University with racist stickers.

    They were seen on CCTV posting the stickers on signs at the campus in July 2016, the same day as a Black Lives Matter march in Birmingham.

    The men, from West Bromwich and Birmingham and said to be members of right-wing group National Action, denied inciting racial hatred.

    They will be sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court on 1 June.

  9. Hate crime graffiti removed as 'community swings into action'

    Police say they're investigating hate crime graffiti which has been daubed in two areas of Stone, in Staffordshire.

    Officers were altered to two incidents on Stafford Street and Westbridge Park.

    Community website, A Little Bit of Stone says "community spirit swung into action" with graffiti removed by members of the public and independent town councillors "to help restore the image of our great town".

  11. Hit-and-run victim photo released as police hunt continues

    The family of a man fighting for his life in hospital following a hit-and-run crash have released his picture in the hope witnesses will contact police.

    Andrew Holdaway, 62, remains in intensive care with multiple serious injuries following the collision in Stourbridge on Bank Holiday Monday.

    Officers said the red car he was driving was involved in a head on collision with a blue Ford Mondeo on Norton Road, at the junction with Harringay Drive at about 16:20.

    Police are attempting to trace the occupants of the Mondeo, who, officers said, fled the scene.
