  2. Flights affected at Birmingham Airport

    Flights in and out of Birmingham Airport are being affected for a second day, with many being diverted overnight.

    It said flights have resumed, but delays are likely due to the knock-on effect of yesterday's snow and freezing temperatures overnight.

    Passengers are being advised to check with their airline and the airport's live departures board.

  3. Freezing weather closes hundreds of schools

    Hundreds of schools across the region are closed this morning following heavy snowfall yesterday and freezing temperatures overnight.

    Birmingham City Council says all council-run schools are closed, as are many in Warwickshire, Herefordshire and Shropshire.

    Most schools contact parents direct via an app or text if there's a closure, but some councils also publish lists online.

  11. Heavy snowfall in Birmingham

    Instagram user Abby Harris has put up a post showing heavy snowfall at the Edgbaston Reservoir near central Birmingham.

    Snow has significantly disrupted public transport across the West Midlands and schools will not open on Monday.

  12. School closures in Birmingham

    Birmingham City Council says all of its schools will be closed on Monday because of the snow and freezing weather.

    Children's director Colin Diamond said: "Conditions will remain very hazardous tomorrow and the safety of our children and young people is of paramount importance.

    "Even if pupils walk to school we will not be able to guarantee enough staff on site to look after them."

    He added: “I would strongly advise all other schools within Birmingham to do the same.”

  14. Environment Agency use 4x4s to help vulnerable

    The Environment Agency in the West Midlands will be using its 4x4s to help vulnerable people in areas affected by heavy snowfall.

    Dave Throup, the agency's manager in Herefordshire and Worcestershire, tweeted that their staff and 4x4s will be "available to help vulnerable people and allow patients to get to medical appointments".

  17. Further school closures across the Midlands

    School closures have been confirmed for Monday across Worcestershire, Walsall and Shropshire, due to the snow.A full list of Shropshire closures can be found on the council Twitter page. Worcestershire County Council released its list of closures online.

    A list of Walsall school closures is being continually updated on the council Facebook page.
