  11. Firefighters' sons tour rediscovered Dudley station

    Sons of firefighters have taken a tour of their fathers' abandoned station, which was found untouched after half a century.

    Peter Cox and David Jasper saw their relatives' uniforms on BBC Midlands Today when the former private base in Dudley was featured.

    The station was used by the Co-operative Wholesale Society's (CWS) company crew.

    Mr Jasper, whose father Ron started work at the co-operative in 1951, said: "When I saw [the fire station] on the telly it was quite poignant.

    "It's like a time capsule - nothing's changed. It's really nice to see my father's uniform and bring back some happy memories."

  12. West Brom midfielder hopes to earn 75th international cap

    West Brom midfielder Darren Fletcher has described the prospect of making his 75th appearance for Scotland tomorrow as an "amazing honour".

    Speaking at a press conference ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Lithuania, the 32-year-old, is calling on the Scottish fans to supply his teams with a "rocking" atmosphere at Hampden.

    "Our fans get behind us every game and that's great," he said.

    "Everyone expected us to beat Malta but it's not easy. It was a good performance and we're high on confidence."

  15. Birmingham City Council Schools chief 'told to go if pregnant'

    The councillor in charge of Birmingham's children's services was told she would probably have to step down if she became pregnant - because the council has no maternity policy. 

    Brigid Jones, cabinet member for education and social services, said she was told a procedure did not exist for someone in her role.

    Ms Jones, a councillor since 2011, branded the situation "ridiculous".

    Birmingham City Council said it was looking at introducing a policy.
