  6. Luton BID backs stadium plans... with conditions

The board of Luton's Business Improvement District (BID) has said it is backing plans for Luton Town's new stadium at Power Court in the town centre - but only if its own demands are met.

    Impression of Power Court Stadium

Luton BID said its primary concern was with the development of Newlands Park at junction 10 of the M1 - it said shops there should not compete with the town centre

It also highlights the lack of office space and parking for town centre workers in the plans and said any inclusion of a new cinema must not impact on the existing one at the Galaxy Centre.

The board has also said it is concerned about the impact of football crowds on shoppers and wants parking charges to be the same as in the town centre.

The BBC has asked Luton Town FC for comment.

Police say they will run a number of "plate safe" events where residents will be able to get tamper-proof screws fitted for free.

"We’d advise investing in these screws, parking in a garage if you can and obviously reporting a theft to police straight away," a spokesman said.
