  3. Blunham fire: Residents advised to keep windows closed

    Residents of Blunham and the surrounding area are being advised to keep their windows closed to prevent fumes from an ongoing blaze at a coach company in the village from entering their homes.

    A workshop at Chiltern Travel in Barford Road caught fire shortly before 12:30. Firefighters are now attacking it from several directions, and trying to stop it spreading to a portable building and a fuel tank containing about 500 litres of diesel. 

    Cylinders containing argon and propane gas have also been removed, along with a number of vehicles which were close to the building.

  4. Support grows for Bowie statue in Aylesbury’s Market Square

    Support is growing for a statue of David Bowie in Market Square to celebrate his "special connection" with Aylesbury, which was first proposed by Friars Club supremo David Stopps.

  5. Man guilty of attempted murder after Luton stabbing

    A man has been found guilty of attempted murder after stabbing his ex-wife and her new partner at a contact centre in Luton last summer.

    Fatmir Mula, 39, of Newham, London, was found guilty of two counts of attempted murder and possessing an offensive weapon. The jury was unanimous on all counts.

    Sentencing will take place at Luton Crown Court tomorrow morning.

  6. Luton murder investigation: 'Someone has information," police say

    Police investigating the murder of Atul Shah, 47, found dead in his Crescent Road home a week ago, say someone has the information they need to establish what happened.

    “We’re keen to hear from any of Mr Shah’s friends who have not yet been spoken to by police, as this may help us further in establishing the circumstances around his tragic death," said Det Insp Justine Jenkins.

  7. 'Big guns' return to Watford side for Saints trip

    The big guns will return to the Watford side tonight for their trip to Southampton. Odion Ighalo, Etienne Capoue, Miguel Britos and Almen Abdi were all rested for the FA Cup win over Newcastle on Saturday.

    The Saints have been inconsistent this season, but Watford boss Quique Sanchez Flores said: "It's very important not to underestimate these types of teams because Southampton two weeks ago won really easily against Arsenal.

    "They are a good team with good players and our challenge is to be competitive because if not it will be difficult to win."

  8. Flat flood leads police to bedroom full of cannabis

    A man has been arrested after water flooding from a flat in Hatfield led police to find a bedroom full of cannabis.

    Police discovered the 20 plants last night at the property in Robins Way and say neighbours reported problems with their electricity at 20:30.

    The man in his 50s has been charged with cultivation of cannabis and abstraction of electricity. He remains in custody and will appear in court tomorrow.

  9. Family of Luton murder victim 'desperately seeking answers'

    The family of a Luton man murdered last week are appealing for anyone with information to come forward as soon as possible.

    Atul Shah, 47, was found dead at his home in Crescent Road in the town centre last Wednesday evening. He'd suffered serious injuries, but police haven't released any specific information.

    His family, who describe him as a man "with a heart of gold and a zest for life", say they're "desperately seeking answers". A murder investigation is under way.

  10. Reusable recycling bags for Milton Keynes

    Some residents in Milton Keynes will soon see their pink sacks for recycling replaced by a "bag for life" in a new trial.

    Two areas of Beanhill will receive what Milton Keynes Council call "strong reusable bags" before more areas are added to the list.

    The council says the pink bags are "no longer viable" and is looking for a "reusable alternative" in line with the government's introduction of the 5p carrier bag charge.

  12. Injured Luton girl 'allowed to wear wig for first time'

    Shamiam Arif, 13, was horrifically burnt as a baby in Pakistan and brought to the UK by the charity Muslim Hands.

  13. Nine arrested in drug raids across Hertfordshire

    Nine people have been arrested in drugs raids in Hertfordshire, North London and Essex this morning - including in Hertford and Broxbourne.

    About 100 police officers attended addresses in five towns following a briefing in Hertford.

    “The execution of these warrants was the culmination of months of intelligence led work and the operation has been a success," Ch Insp for East Herts, Gerry McDonald said.

    A Hertfordshire school had an unexpected visitor for lunch today who caused a bit of a stir.

    Prince William dropped in as he was on a job in Stevenage with his East Anglian Air Ambulance helicopter.

    He went into the canteen at the John Henry Newman School in the town while on a break from transporting doctors from nearby Lister Hospital.

  17. Karl Robinson says MK Dons were 'punch-drunk' in 5-0 Burnley loss

    MK Dons boss Karl Robinson has admitted his team "looked punch-drunk" in their 5-0 home defeat by Burnley on Tuesday.

    The Buckinghamshire side conceded four second-half goals and had Antony Kay sent off, leaving them just a place above the Championship drop-zone.

    "It's a David and Goliath every week and we have to box clever and a little bit wiser," Robinson said.

  18. Fire in coach vehicle workshop in Blunham

    Firefighters are currently tackling a fire in a vehicle workshop at a coach company in Blunham.

    Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the site in Barford Road at 12:25.

    Seven fire crews from across the county are on the scene, due to the presence of gas cylinders and fuel oil. Firefighters are wearing breathing apparatus to protect themselves from potential asbestos in the roof.
