  1. Goodbye

Still from the Star Wars: Rogue One trailer

Thank you for joining us on today's Entertainment Live page - that's about it from us, but before we go there's just time to bring you some social media responses to the new trailer for Star Wars: Rogue One - which was released earlier today.

Although it's fair to say not all of you were best pleased about this increasingly popular trend of releasing a trailer for a trailer, as happened this morning when the Rogue One trailer was teased online.

One person who is delighted with the trailer though is Vanity Fair writer Joanna Robinson, who pointed out that, with half of the dialogue coming from female characters, it easily passes the Bechdel Test...

  2. Ricky Gervais's popular TV character David Brent returns

David Brent, played by Ricky Gervais

The first trailer for the big-screen spin-off of The Office has been released and shows David Brent explaining his new career move.

Titled Life On The Road, the film is set 15 years on from where the BBC comedy left off. Brent, played by Ricky Gervais, is working as a sales rep for a company called Lavichem, trying to launch his music career on the side.

We would love to post the video of the trailer for you to watch, but parts of it are a little, er, rude. So we'll just tell you what we can about it for now and if you feel you're up to it you can seek it out for yourself. Deal?

David Brent, played by Ricky Gervais

The trailer starts with Brent walking into the office announcing "he's back", followed by his signature evil chuckle and the statement: "Did you miss me?"

A suit-clad Brent is then filmed talking down the camera, explaining his new career choice. "Hello, I'm David Brent," he says, "You probably know me as the star of the BBC Two documentary The Office ... that was back in 2000 and... no, that was then, this is now, I'm currently a singer-songwriter and a rep."

He goes on to perform a rendition of one of his new songs, and er, that's where it takes a slightly X-rated turn. So we'll leave it there.

  3. BBC Two preview tonight's Line of Duty

  4. Kate Tempest on her debut novel

    BBC Arts

    Kate Tempest

You may well already be familiar with Kate Tempest - she's the spoken word performer and poet who was Mercury shortlisted for her 2014 album Everybody Down and the winner of the Ted Hughes Prize for innovation for her 2013 narrative poem Brand New Ancients.

Well, she's about to add another string to her bow, as an author. She's written an ambitious, sprawling London novel called The Bricks that Built the Houses, out today.

The book zooms in on the interconnected lives of a group of lost millennials trying to find a path through the tangled emotional undergrowth, nihilistic drug culture and fractured urban landscape of south east London where, to quote the author, "financial buildings rise like fangs in the city’s screaming mouth".

  5. Fancy a role in The Wind in the Willows?

The Wind in the Willows website

The producers of Julian Fellowes' The Wind in the Willows are holding open auditions for the new production which is scheduled to open in October.

The official website says producers are looking for "terrific character actors, for both leading and ensemble roles, who should sing and dance brilliantly".

We imagine your immediate question is "Where can I sign up?".

Well, the open auditions will take place in both London and Salford. The website does say however that you need to be prepared to wait around all day to be seen, so probably best to take a packed lunch.

  6. Analysis: Trailer for Star Wars Rogue One released

    Lizo Mzimba

    Entertainment correspondent

Still from the Rogue One trailer

The point of a teaser, months out from the film's release is to whet fans' appetites without giving too much away. And in that the trailer for Star Wars: Rogue One succeeds admirably.

It captures the feel of the original trilogy with its glimpses of AT-ATs and Stormtroopers old and new. And like The Force Awakens features a strong female lead in Felicity Jones's Jyn Erso.

The tone seems much darker than The Force Awakens - Stormtroopers lie (presumably) dead in the water after a vicious battle. And even John Williams's familiar music theme has a more melancholy arrangement.

Every frame will no doubt be pored over for additional clues for weeks, building anticipation for the latest instalment of a film series reinvigorated by J J Abrams The Force Awakens  which has now taken more than $2 billion across the globe.

  7. Caroline Flack: No fallout with Olly Murs after X Factor

    BBC Newsbeat

    Caroline Flack and Olly Murs

Caroline Flack has denied she's fallen out with her former X Factor co-presenter Olly Murs.

It was announced in February the pair would not be presenting the next series of the ITV show.

Reports in some newspapers this morning suggested they were no longer talking but Caroline has denied that is the case.

The 36-year-old explained in a series of tweets she hadn't been pushed out of The X Factor and hasn't "fallen out with Olly". Here's what she said:

  8. Ghost 'spotted' on BBC Breakfast

We love a good ghost sighting as much as the next person - so our interest was piqued when a BBC Breakfast viewer thought they spotted one yesterday morning.

During an interview with actress Jo Horton, who appears on Channel 4 drama The People Next Door, a black shadow appears to cross in front of the camera.

Take a look - it almost seems like presenter Louise Minchin notices something iffy too after it passes.

Video caption: Ghost spotted on BBC Breakfast?

Our hopes of a close encounter have been dashed though, as a BBC spokeswoman has now explained:

Quote Message: This was an effect on a filter of the camera relating to the lighting switching on. You can see a red spotlight at the top of the screen changing to a star effect, so it's just a technical thing.
  9. Mark Hamill reveals Star Wars Episode VIII spoiler

Last week, Star Wars actor Mark Hamill promised fans he would reveal an Episode VIII spoiler if he reached a million Twitter followers.

After achieving the feat two days ago, the star kept his promise and tweeted the "spoiler" last night - although we're not quite sure it was what fans were expecting...

  11. Taylor Swift fans are not very happy with Taylor Swift

    Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift has released a video for her new single, New Romantics, the seventh to be taken from her album 1989.

The video is made up of live footage, filmed on her recent world tour.

We would love to bring you the video, but unfortunately we can't, as it's been released as an exclusive to Apple Music.

Some of Taylor's fans aren't very happy about this. They point out that Taylor has dedicated the new video to her fans in a message posted on her Twitter page, and yet those who aren't subscribers to the streaming service aren't able to see it.

  13. Christopher Maloney's three-year-old single becomes hit in Japan

Who would you say are the biggest names to have come out of The X Factor UK?

One Direction, Leona Lewis, Little Mix, JLS, Olly Murs and Diana Vickers (just us?) probably spring to mind. One that probably doesn't, however, is Christopher Maloney.

    Christopher Maloney

Maloney’s original single, My Heart Belongs to You, wasn't exactly a huge success when it was released three years ago, but has now hit number 16 in the Japanese charts, after a YouTube video of his original X Factor audition went viral in the country.

His newfound popularity resulted in him appearing in a documentary for Japanese network Fuji TV,  which charted his rise to fame.

The singer originally appeared on The X Factor in 2012, finishing in third place. He appeared on Celebrity Big Brother earlier this year.

Chris is now planning to visit Japan to launch his next single, The Strength Within Me, and hopes to meet a number of his new fans. He told the Liverpool Echo:

Quote Message: I can’t believe it. It’s crazy. The video of my audition went viral and I’ve been getting tons of tweets. When the video got posted on Facebook in Japan I was getting thousands of tweets a day.
  14. Show Boat cast take on The Lion King

  15. 5 Seconds of Summer visit Radio 1 (and confuse BBC News presenters)

    5 Seconds of Summer

5 Seconds of Summer were interviewed by Nick Grimshaw on Radio 1 this morning, and it's fair to say one or two fans turned up to see them, which rather confused some of the BBC News presenters, who share the same building:

  17. Shakespeare First Folio discovered on Scottish island

    Copies of Shakespeare's First Folio

A copy of Shakespeare's First Folio, one of the most sought-after books in the world, has been discovered in a stately home on a Scottish island.

The 1623 first collected edition of plays was found in the library at Mount Stuart House, Isle of Bute - but its 400-year history is largely unknown.

Academics who authenticated the book called it a rare and significant find.

About 230 copies of the First Folio are known to exist. A copy owned by Oxford University sold for £3.5m in 2003.

  18. Trailer for Star Wars trailer released

It's not often you see a trailer for a trailer, but Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is no ordinary film.

Interest in the movie is so high that a six-second teaser has been released, previewing the full-length trailer which is premiering later today.

We'll of course bring you the actual trailer once it's been put online (after its broadcast on Good Morning America), but for now here's the teaser to whet your appetite:

  20. Sara Bareilles and Rebel Wilson to star in Little Mermaid Live

    Sara Bareilles and Rebel Wilson

Back in the '90s, long before the days of Frozen and Inside Out, one of the most popular kids films was The Little Mermaid. Let's face it, what's not to love about a Jamaican lobster belting out a wonderful tune like Under The Sea?

Well, Sara Bareilles and Rebel Wilson clearly agree - they've signed up for Little Mermaid Live, where they will take on the roles of Ariel and Ursula respectively.

The concert takes place at the Hollywood Bowl on 4 June. The cast will perform against a screening of the 1989 animated film on the Bowl's Jumbotron, backed by a 71-piece live orchestra and a 12-person choir.
