This year, Halloween has been the warmest on record in the UK. Rachel Gordon in Belfast, Northern Ireland, submitted this photo of a pumpkin lantern with the face of ET carved into it.

Meanwhile George Olney in San Luis, Mexico, sent in this photo of a selection brightly coloured "Calaveras de Dulce", or sugar sweet skulls. "They are an important part of the tradition of Day of the Dead. Apparently sweets were placed on the alters to the deceased, as a treat after their journey to join the living on Day of the Dead", George said.

Thousands of people turn out for the Bridgwater carnival in Somerset, England. The celebration dates back to 1605 when Guy Fawkes tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament. Jordan Gould sent us this picture from this year's carnival.

Kay Collister sent in this photo of a cargo ship which ran aground near Öja, Landsort in Stockholm Archipelago, Sweden. The ship ran into trouble on Wednesday. The Swedish Coast Guard said the ship had been towed to safety.

Meanwhile, Guy Savin spotted these vintage cars in Merstham, Surrey, UK as they drove past him while taking part in the London to Brighton Veteran car run on Saturday.

On Saturday night, a small fire broke out on a family roller coaster ride at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, US. The fire was quickly put out and no-one was hurt. The ride reopened about an hour later. Photo: Luis R Garcia.
