New vaccine a 'game changer' for polio, says WHO

The total eradication of polio may be finally in sight thanks to a new vaccine, say researchers writing in the journal The Lancet.

It is said to be about 30% more effective in protecting against polio than the most commonly used vaccine.

Dr Bruce Aylward, the Director of World Health Organisation's Polio Eradication Initiative, tells the BBC World Service that the new vaccine is changing the fight against polio.
