The Big Picture: Swarm of ants

Casa Tomada by Rafael Gomezbarros

Casa Tomada, an installation by Colombian artist Rafael Gomezbarros, takes over an entire room in London's Saatchi Gallery. It features 440 ants made from fibreglass and resin, each measuring more than 2ft long. Based on a story of the same name, by Argentinean Julio Cortazar, the installation addresses themes of forced displacement in Colombia. The dramatic artwork forms part of the forthcoming exhibition Pangaea: New Art From Africa and Latin America, which opens next week.
