British singer Kate Bush has announced she is to play a further seven dates in London this year, in addition to the 15 shows previously announced.

According to her press representatives, "huge demand for a specific pre-sale allocation for fans has led Kate to add the seven extra shows".

The 22-night run begins at London's Hammersmith Apollo on 26 August and will now run until 1 October.

The Wuthering Heights and Hounds of Love singer last toured in 1979.

"Kate decided to add the extra shows in a bid to make sure as many people who wish to see a show can do so," the official statement continues.

It says that "massive pre-sale demand" from fans who had pre-registered on the singer's official website saw "a specific allocation of tickets... sold-out in 30 minutes" on Wednesday morning.

Bush, 55, announced last week she was playing 15 London dates. The title for her new show is Before the Dawn.

"I am delighted to announce that we will be performing some live shows this coming August and September," she said.

"I hope you will be able to join us and I look forward to seeing you there."

Tickets for all 22 shows officially go on sale at 09:30 GMT on 28 March.

Bush last released an album in 2011, the Brit-nominated 50 Words For Snow. It was only her third album of new material in 18 years.

Bush, whose other hits include Running Up That Hill and Babooshka, has won both Brit and Ivor Novello awards and received a CBE for services to music in 2013.
