The emerging art scene in post-Saddam Iraq
For most Iraqis art is not a priority, but after the decades of repression, censorship and conflict an art scene is now emerging in their country - albeit on a small and embryonic scale.
Eleven artists from Iraq have been chosen to have works displayed at the 55th International Art Exhibition - la Biennale di Venezia. From cartoons and sculptures - to oil on canvas.
The man given the job of selecting which art would be shown was British curator Jonathan Watkins. Take a look here at some of the choices - and see how artistic inspiration can be found in one of the world's most violent countries.
