Rihanna gets fourth UK number one single

Singer Rihanna has scored her fourth UK number one single after her track Only Girl (In The World) climbed one place to knock Cheryl Cole off the top spot.

But the X Factor judge still has cause to celebrate after her new solo album, Messy Little Raindrops, took pole position in this week's album rundown.

Cole's success contrasts with that of fellow Girls Aloud member Nadine Coyle.

Insatiable, her first solo release, failed to crack the Top 20, entering the singles chart at number 26.

Rihanna's latest singles triumph follows that of Umbrella in 2007, Take a Bow in 2008 and Run This Town last year.

The Barbados-born star is set to perform later at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Madrid, where she is in the running for the best song, best female and best pop prizes.

Love the Way You Lie, her collaboration with rapper Eminem, is up for an additional two accolades.

Just behind Rihanna and Cole in this week's singles chart sits Alexis Jordan, a former contestant on US talent show America's Got Talent.

Her debut single Happiness - the title track from her soon-to-be-released first album - is a new entry at three.

Cole's second solo disc is one of a number of new entries in this week's album chart.

Bon Jovi's greatest hits collection, Rod Stewart's new compilation of covers and Jamiroquai's comeback album Rock Dust Light Star are also Top 10 debutants.
