Surrey Liberal Democrat candidate Patrick Haveron suspended
A Liberal Democrat candidate in the general and local elections has been suspended by the party over claims he falsified council nomination papers.
Parliamentary candidate for South West Surrey, Patrick Haveron, has been accused of falsifying his papers for the Waverley Borough Council election.
However, he will still appear on both ballot papers as a Liberal Democrat because nominations have closed.
A party spokesman said he no longer represented them in either election.
He said Mr Haveron, who lives in Godalming, had been suspended "pending the outcome of investigations into his nomination papers for the Waverley Borough Council election".
Surrey Police said it was aware of the matter and inquiries were ongoing.
