China expands oil and gas tax

Help

China is to expand an experimental resource tax on crude oil and natural gas products.

A tax of between 5% and 10% will now be imposed on domestic sales of oil and gas throughout the country.

The money will go into local government coffers of resource-rich inland provinces to help pay for development projects.

Shailaja Nair from Platts Asia explains which firms will be affected the most.
