Dallas shootings: 'Suspect wanted to kill white officers'

Dallas police chief David Brown has told a news conference the suspect who died in a confrontation with police told hostage negotiators he wanted to kill white police officers.

Five Dallas police officers were killed and seven wounded by gunmen during protests against the shooting of black men by police, authorities say.

Three people are in custody.
