A history of US third-party candidates

"Democratic socialist" Bernie Sanders and the outspoken real estate tycoon, Donald Trump, have won the New Hampshire presidential primaries for the Democratic and Republican parties respectively.

Billionaire and former mayor of New York Michael Bloomberg believes these two figures are potentially moving the two main parties too far away from the centre.

In response, Mr Bloomberg has announced that he's mulling the possibility of running as an independent.
