Obama: 'We must push back against bigotry'

US President Barack Obama has urged the American public not to repeat the mistakes of the past, in a speech marking 150 years since the abolition of slavery,

He said scars left by the country's "original sin" still existed in modern America.

"We betray the efforts of the past, if we fail to push back against bigotry in all its forms," he said.
