Dallas shooting suspect 'meant to kill officers'

Police officers in the US city of Dallas, Texas who came under attack from an armed suspect are "lucky" to have survived, a senior officer has said.

Police Chief David Brown described bullet holes in squad cars and in the department's headquarters in places where staff had been sitting.

"We believe this suspect meant to kill officers and took time to discharge that weapon multiple times", he said.
