US to boost army advisers in Iraq

The United States has confirmed it is sending an additional 450 troops to Iraq to help boost the training of government forces.

President Obama made the decision following a request from Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi, it said.

The US has been under pressure to reverse the recent gains made by so-called Islamic State extremists.
