Berkeley mayor: 'This is not like the Michael Brown shooting'

The Mayor of Berkeley says the shooting of an 18-year-old black teenager cannot be compared to the shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson.

St Louis County police said the man who was shot in Berkeley had pulled a gun at a petrol station and pointed it at the officer.

Berkeley is about two miles from the suburb of Ferguson, where the 18-year-old Michael Brown was shot dead by a white officer.

Theodore Hoskins told reporters police had been "protecting the citizens of Berkeley".
