CIA director defends 'enhanced' interrogation techniques

The CIA director John Brennan has admitted the agency failed to live up to the right standards in its treatment of terrorist suspects.

However he defended the methods but said some techniques were "harsh" and "abhorrent".

Some critics, including Barack Obama, have described the methods as torture.
