US to send 1,500 more troops to Iraq

US President Barack Obama has authorised the deployment of an extra 1,500 US troops to Iraq.

The Pentagon said the military personnel would have a non-combat role, and would expand the existing mission to advise and assist the Iraqi armed forces fighting Islamic State (IS) militants.

Tom Esslemont reports from Washington.
