Fort Lee mayor: Christie apology 'might be premature'

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has fired an aide who allegedly orchestrated traffic mayhem to pursue a petty political vendetta.

The mayor of the borough involved, Mark Sokolich, said he is "grateful" for Mr Christie speaking out and would welcome him to Fort Lee.

But he is worried an apology to the people Fort Lee, who were most hit by the gridlock, might be premature.

"I think this is a story who's not yet experienced its final chapter."
