NRA news conference interrupted by protesters

A news conference by the National Rifle Association in Washington was interrupted twice by anti-gun protesters carrying banners.

The American gun lobby called for armed guards in every school, in its first response to the mass shooting in Connecticut, in which 26 children and adults were killed.

The NRA's chief executive, Wayne LaPierre, said schools had become a target for insane killers because guns were banned there.

Protesters declared that the NRA had "blood on its hands".

Nicholas Owen reports.
