US election: Economy focus of TV debate

With just five weeks to go until election day in the US, Barack Obama and Mitt Romney are preparing to face each other in an eagerly-awaited televised debate on the economy.

The president is under heavy attack from the Republicans accused of failing to deliver strong economic growth and much-needed jobs after the recession.

Global markets are most worried about America's budget deficit.
