Troy Davis put to death declaring innocence
A man convicted of killing a police officer in the US state of Georgia has been executed by lethal injection, after the US Supreme Court rejected an 11th-hour appeal.
Troy Davis had been due to be killed at midnight but the sentence was eventually carried out more than four hours later.
Local radio journalist Jon Lewis, who witnessed the death, said Davis was defiant in proclaiming his innocence to the end.
