Police in Arizona praise courage of eyewitnesses

A 22-year-old man, Jared Loughner, charged with the attempted murder of the Congresswoman, Gabrielle Giffords is due in court today.

Among the dead were a nine year old girl and a federal judge. A total of 14 people were injured, in addition to the six who were killed.

The local sheriff has praised the courage of a woman who grabbed the gunman's ammunition to prevent him reloading and two bystanders who tackled the gunman to the ground.
