Weakening Hurricane Earl lashes US coast

Hurricane Earl is continuing to weaken as it sweeps up the eastern coast of the US, but authorities are still warning it could topple trees and cause damage to buildings.

Earl has dropped in severity to a Category 1 storm from its Category 4 peak but is still causing lashing waves and heavy winds in coastal New York.
