How many Afghans still support the Taliban?

The Afghan President Hamid Karzai has indicated that he is no longer prepared to hold direct talks with the Taliban aimed at ending the conflict there.

It has been 10 years since the Nato invasion forced the Taliban from power, but insurgents and those sympathetic to them continue to mount attacks and have even gained ground in parts of the country.

In the first of a series of special BBC reports marking the 10th anniversary, Paul Wood looks at the Taliban's continued support.
