Life in Northern Afghanistan

The British focus in Afghanistan is on the bitter fighting in Helmand in the country's south.

But in the north around another 140,000 or so NATO forces comprised of Americans, Germans, Swedes, Finns and others are working as part of the international security force known as ISAF.

It has been far quieter than the south, allowing more aid work and economic development to take place.
