Syria rebels 'withdraw from Old City' of Aleppo

Rebel fighters have pulled out of territory they’ve held for the last four years in Aleppo's historic Old City, close to the ancient citadel.

Their retreat marks another significant advance by the Syrian military and its allies.

On Tuesday they captured the district of Shahaar. A small group of journalists were taken there on Wednesday by the Syrian army, including our chief international correspondent Lyse Doucet .
