Bahrain minister: 'Iran wants to control the region'

The deadline is looming for Iran and six world powers to seal a deal curbing Iran's nuclear programme in exchange for a lifting of sanctions.

In an interview with the BBC, the foreign minister of Bahrain has warned that failure to stop the Iranians from acquiring a nuclear weapon will trigger an arms race in the Middle East.

Sheikh Khalid Bin Ahmad al-Khalifa told the BBC's Middle East correspondent Kevin Connolly that Bahrain supported the idea of a deal, but that the wider implications for the region also needed to be considered.
