Palestinian UN resolution rejected by Security Council

The United Nations Security Council has rejected a Palestinian-backed resolution that called for an end to Israeli occupation within three years.

A minimum of nine votes in favour was required to secure approval but it got only eight. Jordan said the vote should not stop efforts to resolve the conflict.

The BBC's Washington Correspondent Rajini Vaidyanathan reports.
