US airdrops weapons to Kurds despite Turkish disapproval

The US has carried out airdrops of weapons and supplies to Kurdish fighters, despite a lack of support from Turkey.

They supplied fighters in and around the town of Kobane near the Turkey-Syria border.

It comes after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he would not allow the US to supply the Kurds with weapons over his country's border.

Turkey considers the Kurds fighting Islamic State in Syria and Iraq to be terrorists.
