Who is fighting whom in Syria?

Efforts to find a solution to the conflict in Syria have been complicated in part by the fragmented nature of the rebel groups fighting the government's forces.

Scores if rebel brigades and battalions have sprung up over the past two years, some with conflicting agendas and ideologies, without any cohesive control.
