Tipping point in the battle for Syria?

Internet and phone systems were reportedly down for a second day across Syria on Friday, while many flights in and out of the capital were cancelled because of clashes.

Meanwhile, the head of the UN said the conflict was reaching "new and appalling heights of brutality and violence", but does all this mean the crisis in Syria is nearing a tipping point?
