Mohammed Mursi promises 'shining new page' for Egypt

Mohammed Mursi has been sworn in as Egypt's first civilian, democratically elected president at a historic ceremony in Cairo.

He was saluted by Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, leader of the military council which is handing over power.

Mr Mursi has pledge to reclaim powers recently stripped from the presidency by the country's military.

He has also promised a shining new page in his country's history, to follow what he called a hideous page.

Jon Leyne reports from Cairo.
