Syria protest becoming armed uprising

Germany, France and Britain have tabled a United Nations resolution calling for an end to human rights violations in Syria.

The resolution also backs an Arab League plan for President Assad's government to end the violence.

Earlier, Russia's foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, said the Syrian opposition's use of armed force to topple President Assad risked plunging Syria into civil war.
