Syria losing support amid fears of civil war

Turkey has stepped up its pressure on neighbouring Syria over the crackdown on protests by the government.

The Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, said no regime could survive by killing and jailing its opponents.

Damascus is also facing increasing pressure from the Arab League, which has suspended its membership.
